To equip frontline communities against escalating environmental threats, Youth Leading Climate Action (YLCA) and the Global Youth Leadership Center (GYLC) have partnered to mobilize local youth around sustainable agroecology and climate adaptation.
Daudkandi, Cumilla, December 31, 2022 — As agricultural communities face the mounting and unpredictable impacts of climate change, Youth Leading Climate Action (YLCA), with strategic support from the Global Youth Leadership Center (GYLC), has launched a targeted youth mobilization project in Daudkandi. The initiative is designed to raise critical awareness regarding localized climate vulnerabilities and drive the active adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices.
A Dual Approach to Environmental Education
To effectively bridge the gap between theory and practice, the project employs a dual operational strategy that combines structured classroom learning with grassroots field mobilization. Through targeted educational materials and expert-led training sessions, the initiative moves beyond basic environmental awareness to deliver functional, hands-on knowledge.
This hybrid approach ensures that participants not only learn the fundamentals of sustainable farming indoors but also apply these concepts directly within their local agricultural landscapes.
Intersecting Agroecology, Health, and Sustainability
A core objective of the program is to build actionable resilience by equipping local youth with the technical capacity needed to navigate complex environmental challenges. The curriculum is specifically designed to help participants understand the vital intersections between agroecology, environmental sustainability, and public health.
By empowering young leaders with these interdisciplinary tools, YLCA and GYLC are ensuring that the next generation is prepared to advocate for—and practically implement—climate-smart frameworks that protect both the local ecosystem and the long-term well-being of the community.
