Youth Leading Climate Action (YLCA) formally announces the appointment of its General Secretary, Tipu Sultan, as the Co-Lead for the Workshops and Capacity Building track for the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) Bangladesh 2026.
LCOY Bangladesh serves as the official national youth gathering under the banner of YOUNGO, the official children and youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The conference plays a pivotal role in formulating Bangladesh’s Country Youth Position—a unified policy statement reflecting the vulnerabilities, resilience strategies, and demands of Bangladeshi youth ahead of international climate negotiations.
In his capacity as Co-Lead, Tipu Sultan will oversee the design and execution of structured training modules, interactive workshops, and skill-building frameworks. The portfolio focuses on:
Policy Literacy & Climate Governance: Translating complex UNFCCC mechanisms, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and national adaptation priorities into actionable concepts for youth advocates.
Negotiation & Advocacy Skills: Training delegates to articulate regional vulnerabilities—particularly regarding loss and damage, climate finance, and community-led adaptation—into high-impact policy inputs.
Grassroots Inclusion: Mobilizing youth leaders across divisional, rural, and frontline communities to guarantee that the Country Youth Position is comprehensive and representative.
This appointment reinforces YLCA’s organizational mandate to bridge grassroots climate mobilization with formal policy architecture, ensuring young leaders across Bangladesh move from dialogue to measurable impact.
